Plug Seller Help Center

My payment failed. What happens now?

Updated Sep 26, 20261 min read

When a renewal payment doesn't go through, a banner appears at the top of Plug Seller: Payment problem: update your card by (date) to keep your access. You keep using Plug Seller until that date.

Fix it

  1. Press Fix payment on the banner, or go to Settings > Plan & Billing > Update card.
  2. Update the card, or add a new one, on Stripe's secure page.

The banner goes away once the payment goes through.

If the date passes

If the card still hasn't been updated by the date on the banner, your access pauses and the banner reads Access paused: fix your payment to restore your Plug Seller access. Stripe keeps trying the card over the next few days, and a plan that stays unpaid is canceled. Fixing the payment brings your access back.

Important: The first payment after a free trial works differently. If it fails, your access pauses right away. Update the card and the plan starts.

If your card is declined when you subscribe

  • Payment failed: check your card details and try again. Check the card number, expiration date, security code and ZIP code, or use another card.
  • This card was declined several times. The message says how long to wait. Use a different card or payment method, or try again once that time has passed.
