How do purchase orders work?
Go to Business > Purchase Orders and press Create purchase order.
Fill in the order
- Pick the Supplier and the Expected arrival date.
- Payment is Unpaid, Partially paid or Paid, with the Method and the Payment due date. It's only for your records. Plug Seller doesn't pay anyone.
- Add the products. Type a UPC or ASIN and press Look up to see the product first, with what it sells for, its FBA fee, its BSR and its number of sellers. Choose where you'll sell it, enter the Qty and the cost per unit, and press Add to order. You can also pick an item from your inventory, or type a line yourself, with Add line.
- Add Freight and Other costs, such as duties, prep or inspection. They're spread over the units when you close the order.
Press Save purchase order. It starts as a Draft.
From order to stock
| Status | What to do next |
|---|---|
| Draft | Press Mark ordered once you've placed the order. |
| Ordered | When it arrives, press Receive…, count what actually came, and press Mark received. A shortage stays visible so you can follow up with the supplier. |
| Received | Press Close: add stock + COGS. |
| Closed | The stock is in your inventory. |
Closing can't be undone. Each line goes into your inventory at the count you received, with its cost plus its share of the freight and other costs. Products that weren't in your inventory yet are created. The order is also recorded as a purchase and counted in your cash flow.
Tracking and other actions
- Click an order to see its lines and add the tracking number from the supplier's shipping email. The carrier is detected for you, and the delivery status updates on its own.
- The ⋮ menu on each order has Edit, Reorder (a copy of the order), Export CSV, Cancel and Delete, depending on its status. Only drafts and canceled orders can be deleted.
