How do I track expenses and mileage?

Updated Sep 26, 20261 min read

Go to Business > Expenses and press Add expense. Then choose the Kind.

  • One-time cost is something you paid once, like prep supplies.
  • Recurring subscription is something you pay Monthly or Yearly, like software.
  • Mileage (miles × rate) is for driving to stores and suppliers.

Fill in the Date, a Label such as "Costco run", an optional Category such as Software or Shipping, and the Amount. For mileage, enter the Miles and the Rate per mile instead. Add a Note if you like, and press Save expense.

Mileage

The Rate per mile starts at the IRS standard rate for the date of the drive, and the form shows that rate under the box. Change it to the rate you use. The form shows the deduction as you type.

The Amazon selling plan

When your Amazon store is connected, we add Amazon's selling plan fee as a recurring expense for you, $39.99 a month in the United States or $29.99 in Canada. It's marked Auto-added. Edit or delete it if your plan is different.

Where expenses show up

  • The top of the page adds up your Total spent, Recurring, One-time and Mileage deduction.
  • In the P&L, they're listed under operating expenses, one line per category, and come off your net profit.

Expenses cover your whole business, so they're the same whichever marketplace you pick at the top.
