How do I read my P&L?
Go to Business > P&L. The page is called Profit & Loss and has four tabs. The marketplace you pick at the top (All, Amazon, Walmart or eBay) applies to all of them.
Compare
Two periods side by side. Unless you change the dates, it's the last 30 days against the 30 days before. You see the Net profit, Revenue, Units, Avg ROI and Margin of each, and the change between them.
Breakdown
Pick a date range and choose how to group your profit: By product, By marketplace, By category, By source or By supplier. Then sort by top profit, top revenue, most units or best ROI. It shows up to 50 rows.
Monthly P&L
An income statement for the month you pick.
- Revenue
- Cost of goods sold
- Selling fees, split into referral fees, FBA or fulfillment fees, and shipping
- Gross profit
- Operating expenses, one line per category (adding expenses)
- Net profit, with your net margin
P&L · 12 months
Your last 12 months side by side, newest first, with a total. It covers sales, units, refunds, promotions, fees, cost of goods, gross profit, expenses, net profit and the estimated payout. The current month is marked with an asterisk, because it isn't over yet.
When costs are missing
If some of the units you sold have no cost entered, the page says Partial cost data. If none of them do, it says Payout, not profit. Profit can't be right without your costs, so add them with Set costs in Inventory, or record your purchases.
Export
Export CSV, on the Compare and Breakdown tabs, downloads every sale for the marketplace you're viewing, not only the dates on screen. Each row has the sale's fees, cost of goods and profit, which helps at tax time.
